The Brookhaven man charged with the 2004 murder of John Deere will go to trial June 9.
Lincoln County Circuit Court Judge David Strong set the trial date for Aaron LaDaniel Lyons at a hearing Monday morning.
At the hearing, Lyons’ attorneys stated they were in the process of reviewing evidence in question: a 300-page document that describes the wrongful indictment of Kenneth Baggett Jr. Still, June 8 was set as an optional plea date for Lyons and the trial date was set as the day after.
Lyons, 32, was indicted Sept. 3, 2014, in connection with the death of John Deere on Jan. 16, 2004. Deere was shot three times outside of his convenience store, Airport Pik & Pak on Hwy. 51 in Brookhaven. Lyons is charged with one count of murder, one count of armed robbery and one count of conspiracy. Lyons pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Oct. 4, 2014.
