Lady Wolves blank Holmes in women’s tennis

WESSON – The Lady Wolves recorded their first win of the season with an impressive 9-0 win over the Holmes Lady Bulldogs 9-0.
The most exciting match of the day came at No. 4 singles as sophomore Caroleah Brister battled back from a 4-6 loss in the first set to take the match 6-4, 10-4 in a tiebreaker over Anna Clair Shores.
In other singles action, No. 1 Madison Warren won the first set 6-3 and her opponent, Jordan Baker, retired from the match. Allie Dear defeated Jennifer Rule of Holmes 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2. Brandi McInnis took care of Allie Frudge 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3, and Carly Riley handed Lori Nesbitt a 6-1, 6-1 loss at No. 6. Katherine Wood forfeited to Co-Lin’s Carlianne Alderman at No. 5.
In doubles action, Warren/Riley blanked Baker/Wood 8-0 at No. 1. Dear/Brister defeated Rule/Frudge 7-4 at No. 2 and McInnis/Alderman beat Shores/Nesbitt 8-3.
Co-Lin travels to Ellisville to take on the Jones Lady Bobcats on March 20 beginning at 1 p.m.
