BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats and Bobcats ended the regular season home finale with a split decision against the St. Aloysius Flashes Friday night in Region 7-1A basketball action at the Bobcats Palace.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Cats came out and dominated the Lady Flashes to gain a 61-35 victory.

In boys action, the Flashes survive a Bobcat second-half rally to escape with a 64-53 win.

Bogue Chitto returns to action next week as the Bobcats (5-22, 4-6) will take on the MSD Bulldogs Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in the opening round of the Region 7-1A tournament at St. Aloysius Catholic School in Vicksburg.

The Lady Cats (22-5, 9-1) will begin action Thursday afternoon after earning a bye as they No. 2 seed. They will face the winner of the Natchez Cathedral-MSD contest at 4 p.m.

BC 61, St. Aloysius 35 

The Lady Cats came out strong and quickly dominated the Lady Flashes in the first half of action as BC carried a 34-12 lead into halftime.

In the second half, BC continued to tune up for their post-season run as Coach Christi Terrell empty the bench to give everyone plenty of playing time.

In the third quarter, the Lady Cats put together a 15-12 run and outscored the Lady Flashes 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

“We are glad to get the win to end the regular season,” said Terrell. Now, it is time to refocus and start getting ready for the district tournament.”

BC placed three players in double figures as Zariah Matthews powered the Lady Cats with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Lauren McCaffery contributed 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Christian Black provided a double-double performance of 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Allie Willis was the top shooter for the Lady Flashes with 11 points. Michelle Howington chipped in with eight points.

 St. Aloysius 64, BC 53 

In the boys contest, the Bobcats and Flashes battled in the close game in the opening quarter, until St. Aloysius’ offense turned up the heat to gain a 21-12 advantage and continue the momentum in the second quarter to lead 36-21 at halftime.

In the second half, the Bobcats came out and quickly overwhelm the Flashes with a 16-12 surge in the third quarter, but trailed St. Aloysius 48-37 heading into final quarter.

In the fourth period, BC continued their comeback as they trimmed St. Aloysius’ lead down to four points with three minutes left, before running out of gas. The Flashes battled back to even the score with BC at 16-points apiece.

“We started off slow and put ourselves in a early hole in the first half,” said BC coach Mark Pitts. “In the second half, we did a good job fighting back into the contest, but we just ran out of gas.”

Senior Jeremiah Perkins pumped in a game high double-double of 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bobcats. Matthew Black contributed six points and had eight rebounds.

Luke Eckstein, Rhett Verhine and Drake Dorbeck powered Flashes’ offense with 15 points apiece. Tae Warnsley provided nine points.

In girls’ junior varsity action,  the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats clobbers the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes 35-3.

Kylie Hux, Perstashia Henderson and Baileigh Jackson fueled the Lady Cats’ fire with eight points apiece.
