Madison Currie is taking her skills to the next level. Brookhaven’s women’s tennis star has signed a tennis scholarship with the Jones County Community College Lady Bobcats.
Currie signed her official scholarship papers last Thursday afternoon in the Brookhaven High School Library. She is the daughter of Alan and Angie Currie.
“I’m excited to have the opportunity to play tennis at the next level,” said Currie. “Jones County has a very good tennis program and I am ready to start playing.”
Madison mentioned that she wants to pursue a career in athletic training. In her senior year at Brookhaven High, she currently has a 3.96 grade-point average.
Currie is the secretary on the National Honors Society and also participates in cheerleading. In recent accomplishment, she earned the Wendy’s Heisman honors.
In Madison’s junior year, she posted a 12-3 record in mixed doubles competition. Currie stated that she has been to state competition every year since sixth grade.
“Madison has the heart of a winner,” Brookhaven Tennis Coach Nancy Fisher said. “She is a very hard worker and always strives for excellence on and off the court. She also has strong leadership abilities and, besides working on her own game, is always willing to help others with theirs. Madison will be greatly missed, but she will be a strong addition to the tennis program at Jones.”
