Herbert E. ‘Buddy’ Carlisle

Funeral Services for Herbert E. “Buddy” Carlisle of Wesson are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at Bethel Baptist Church in Copiah County with burial in the church cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2015, from noon until time of service at Bethel Baptist Church.

Mr. Carlisle, 88, died Jan. 11, 2015, at his residence. He was born on Sept. 9, 1926, in Hazlehurst to James Campbell Carlisle and Georgie Dixie Magee Carlisle.

Mr. Carlisle was a veteran of the United States Army where he served during World War II. He also worked as a farmer, in construction, oil field pipe liner, feed mill operator and was the Public Works Superintendent of Georgetown. Mr. Carlisle served the security guard for Hardy Wilson Hospital, was deputized by the Copiah County Sheriff and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers; three sisters; and one grandson, James Christopher Carlisle.

Survivors are his wife of 71 years, Zelda Monelle Hall Carlisle; sons, James E. “Jim” Carlisle (Joan) and William Timothy “Tim” Carlisle (Fran); daughters, Charlotte McElveen (Paul) and Janice Shows (Robert); one sister, Nell Chaney; and grandchildren, Shane McElveen (Guy David Keller), Keith McElveen (Katherine), Virginia Shows Britt (Steve), Suzanne Shows Duckworth (Matt), Alisha Carlisle Murphy (Louis), Andy Carlisle and Hope Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Anna McElveen, Austin McElveen, Haley McElveen, Jackson Britt and Paxton Murphy.

Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church 1189 Bethel Lane, Hazlehurst, MS 39083 or Hospice Ministries 1405 Aston Ave, McComb, MS 39648, which ever you prefer in honor of Mr. Buddy.
