Senior wide receiver/secondary safety Jamal Peters received another big another big honor after helping the his Bassfield Yellowjackets clinch their third straight State Championship in Class 1A as he was chosen as the Most Valuable Player of the Year on the 2014 All-Region 7-2A Football Team.

East Marion’s senior quarterback Johnathan Abram was selected as the Most Valuable Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. Amite County’s junior defensive back Darrion Robinson earned the Most Valuable Defensive Players of the Year.

The coaches from the Region 7-2A classification gather together and voted on the players selected.

Lincoln County was represented in the Region 7-2A honors by West Lincoln and Loyd Star as several players were selected on the 2014 All-District Team.

West Lincoln was represented by Julian Anderson, Ty Forman, Gabe Nations, Jayden Rushing and Charles Wayne Smith.

For the Loyd Star Hornets were Parker Flowers, Zac Arnold, Anfernee Claire and Brett Calcote.

In other special honors, West Lincoln and Loyd Star players were chosen to be on the Super 22 Offensive and Defensive Teams of Region 7-2A.

On offense for West Lincoln, Bryce Temple at wide receiver, and Aaron Byrd on the offensive line. On defense, Chase Owens at defensive back, Lofton Sills at defensive back and Jade Use as the punter.

On offense for Loyd Star was Cole Smith as a offensive lineman. Defensively, Peyton Flowers was selected as a defensive linebacker.

Enterprise is also a member of the Region 7-2A division, but did not have anyone listed on the form that was turned into the DAILY LEADER.
