Colorado Rockies outfielder Corey Dickerson took time to visit his many fans Friday night at KDMC’s Night on a Diamond.
Dickerson who batted .312 this season with 24 home runs was all smiles as greeted fans both young and old.
“This was a fun event,” said Dickerson. “I had a great time.”
In between parade stops as Grand Marshal last Thursday in Brookhaven and this Monday night in Summit, Dickerson has been visiting friends and family with Friday night being an exception to see some of his avid fans and supporters.
The Brookhaven Academy product is one of the new faces of the Colorado Rockies franchise, with All-Star potential going into this season.
Friday night Dickerson signed baseballs, cards, jerseys, and even magazine covers that featured his new nickname in the Rockies franchise as ‘Bat Man.’
“It was an awesome event and great for Brookhaven,” said Nathan Case.
Joining Dickerson at the signing were Milwaukee Brewers MLB pitcher Brent Leach, and minor leaguers Bradley Roney (Braves) and Blake Anderson (Marlins).
Roney, who pitched at USM the last three seasons was drafted by the Braves in the 8th Round in June. The right-handed pitcher recently made headlines in Baseball America with the best fastball among the Braves pitching prospects with a 98mph cannon.
Anderson, who collected a Class 4A State Baseball Championship in May, was the first Mississippian drafted in the June draft. The 6-3, 200-pound catcher was selected by the Miami Marlins in the 1st round.
Still the spotlight remained on Dickerson throughout the night, as kids posed for pictures with the hometown MLB hero.
“I enjoyed seeing and talking to everyone that came out,” said Dickerson. “‘I’m blessed and thankful for all the support.”
