DAILY LEADER / NATHANIEL WEATHERSBY / On Wednesday, members of the Matinee Musicale honored Dr. Jim Barnett and Bill Jacobs, left, for their involvement with getting the Mississippi School of the Arts founded in Brookhaven. Dr. Barnett was celebrated for his involvement with the bill, and Jacobs for his service as publisher of the newspaper at the time and keeping the people of Brookhaven informed on the status of the initiative and other workings within the state legislature. The ceremony featured musical selections from the Brookway Boulevard Singers from Brookhaven High School led by Choir Director Jens Oliva and the MSA Chorale led by Director of Music Patton Rice.
