BHS girls place fifth in state

CLINTON – The Brookhaven Cross Country team competed at the Mississippi State Cross Country meet on last Saturday in Clinton Mississippi.
The top runners from the boys and girls teams competed on the 5K course at Choctaw Trails in the final meet of the season. The girls’ team placed fifth overall out of 17 teams, the best showing ever from the Brookhaven team.
Leading the girls’ team with a personal best time of 23:23 was Gracie Gray followed by Hannah Junkin with a time of 23:45; both are seventh graders. Next came Jordan Fries with a time of 24:16 and Abigail Roberts with at time of 25:13; both are eighth graders. Jacy Miller was the fifth girl coming in for Brookhaven with a time of 25:30.
The boys’ team was represented by Caleb McCreary with a personal best time of 20:08 followed by Will Moak with a time of 20:59, both are ninth graders. The third boy coming in for Brookhaven was Jacob Britt ,who finished with a time of 21:39. Finishing fourth and fifth for the boys team were Christian Jones, 11th grade, with a time of 22:47 and Tajah Black , 12th grade, with a time of 24:28. Brookhaven’s Cross Country’s team is coached by Kevin Bower and Shannon Knott.
