The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats managed to rebound from an unfortunate tough week last week to blast the Brookhaven Lady Panthers 15-3 Thursday night in slowpitch softball action at the Ole Brook Lady Panther softball complex.

“We played Bogue Chitto softball tonight,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “I am extremely proud of my girls. We did a great job rebounding from a tough week last week and had fun playing softball.”

The Lady Cats (7-6) begin Region 7-1A action Tuesday as they prepare to visit Lumberton to tangle with the Lumberton Lady Panthers. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

The Lady Panthers (5-9, 2-0) will be in action Tuesday and host the Provine Lady Rams for a Region 6A-5A varsity doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 15, Brookhaven 3

The Lady Cats came out on fire Thursday night after being off for a week, for unfortunate circumstances, to take a commanding 5-0 lead in three innings of action lead by Christian Black’s three-run homer in the first inning.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Lady Panthers charge back to cut into BC’s lead with a three-run jolt but the Lady Cats managed to get out of the inning with a 5-3 advantage.

Bogue Chitto answered Ole Brook’s challenge with an offensive explosion through out the rest of the contest as they outscored the Lady Panthers 10-0 to secure the win in six innings of work.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cats with no strikeouts and one walk.

Cheyenne Motley suffered the setback for the Lady Panthers with no strikeouts and four walks.

Christian Black had monstrous night to lead BC’s offense with a pair of three-run home runs, a double and a single. Karly Leake provided four singles. Zariah Matthews, Alana Nettles and Brooke Myers contributed two singles each. Hitting safely were Mallory Allen, Colby Kirkland and Reagan Kirkland.

Katherine Shell and Haley Speaks were the top offensive hitters for the Lady Panthers with two singles apiece. Kat Wallace, Jada Henderson and Chantel Quarles hit safely.

“Bogue Chitto hit the ball really well tonight,” said BHS first-year head coach Mandy Vinson. “We have got to do a better jog on getting the ball out of the air offensively.”

In Junior Varsity action, Bogue Chitto defeated Ole Brook 7-4.

“Our junior varsity girls hit the ball really well and played great defensively,” stated Leggett.

Stevie Montgomery tossed the win for BC with one strikeout and one walk.

Raleigh Allen and Motley suffered the setback on the mound for Brookhaven with a combined efforts of eight walks and no strikeouts.

Cherie Savioe, Baileigh Jackson and Lineka Newson paced the Lady Cats at the plate with a pair of single apiece. T’Asia Black and Destiny Wallace contributed a double each and Peyton Barron had a single.

Maria Wilson led Ole Brook’s offense with a double. Hitting safely were Shayniah Jackson, Madison Thompson, Cheyenne Motley and Rileigh Allen.
