The ballot sorting continues at the Lincoln County-Brookhaven Government Complex.
U.S Senate candidate Chris McDaniel’s representatives began reviewing ballots at 9:30 a.m. Monday and will continue Tuesday, looking for irregularities in the Republican Party primaries between McDaniel and incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran, who was declared the winner of the election.
McDaniel campaign workers are working on an investigation into how many persons across the state voted in both the June 3 Democratic primary and the June 24 GOP runoff and whether any of them illegally crossed over to vote in the Republican primary in the runoff after casting a Democratic ballot June 3.
Lincoln County Circuit Clerk Dustin Bairfield said he expects the examination to wrap up Tuesday afternoon in Lincoln County.
According to a press release from Thad for Mississippi, 60 percent of the Lincoln County votes have been sorted with one vote found in question
Nothing has been released by the McDaniel campaign about the number of voting irregularities.
Lincoln County is only one of many counties being examined by the McDaniel campaign statewide.
