Although Mother’s Day comes first on the calendar each year and in many people’s lists of special observances, Father’s Day should have just as much attention.
Research bears out that a father’s impact on children is immeasurable. Moreover, a father’s positive relationship with his children’s mother also serves as a valuable role model for children’s future relationships.
Nowadays, with more single-parent homes, more and more children are growing up without a dad though. One out of three children in America do not have their biological father living at home, according to recent census data.
For some of those children, another male figure, such as a stepfather, grandfather, uncle or teacher, may step up to provide that positive male influence in their lives. Yet, the fact remains, more and more kids are growing up without the important role model that a father provides.
So to all the fathers, grandfathers and other men who provide a positive role model for our children – what better day than Father’s Day to say thank you!
