Banquet lauds BC athletics

The Bogue Chitto faculty, coaches and family members honored the Bobcat athletes with a spring banquet to commemorate the slowpitch softball, girls basketball, boys basketball, baseball and fastpitch softball teams Tuesday night.
Assistant softball coach Denise Leggett opened the ceremony welcoming the crowd to the banquet that was held in the Bogue Chitto Cafeteria .
Coach Russ Carter had the honor to open the award banquet, recognizing his baseball team’s achievements. Brock Roberts was selected as the team’s Most Valuable Player.
In Boys Basketball, first year head coach Mark Pitts thanked the team for their hard work and their parents for all their work and sacrifices to make the season a success. Damien Terrell and Dennis Rogers were chosen as the team Co-Most Valuable Players.
In Girls Basketball, Coach Christi Terrell also thanked the players, parents and coaches for all their help during the basketball season. Coach Terrell recognized two players, Mattie Avants and Zariah Matthews, as her team’s Most Valuable Players.
Softball coach Scott Leggett concluded the banquet by recognizing his slowpitch and fastpitch softball teams. He also thanked the players and everybody else that was involved in making the season a success.
In slowpitch softball, Christian Black received honors as she earned the Batting Title and the Daily Leader Slowpitch Most Valuable Players awards. Alexis Givens captured two Golden Glove awards on the night in slowpitch and fastpitch softball.
In fastpitch softball, Coach Leggett introduced his Class 1A State Champion softball team. Mattie Avants won the Batting Title award. Terrah Nelson earned the RBI Title award.
Principal Mickey Myers closed the ceremony thanking the athletes, coaches and families for the wonderful year they had at Bogue Chitto.
