Strong winds, tornadoes forecast with severe storm system

BROOKHAVEN — Damaging wind gusts, hail and tornadoes are forecast to be in a severe storm system Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service warns there is an enhanced risk for Lincoln County and much of central and south Mississippi.
NWS Jackson warns severe storms will be likely for the area Saturday into Saturday night and pose an enhanced risk with multiple rounds of storms. Damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph will be associated with those storms. Large hail up to a golf ball in size could accompany rain. Tornadoes are likely with some possibly strong.
Heavy rainfall could threaten the area with localized flash flooding into the weekend. Anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of rain could fall over the next few days. NWS Jackson advises a few rounds of heavy rainfall could last into Saturday night.
Lincoln County received 0.16 inches of rain Friday as of 10:00 a.m.
