Brookhaven police identify shooting suspects

BROOKHAVEN — Two suspects were arrested in connection to a Christmas Eve shooting just before midnight. Brookhaven Police Department reported Thursday the men in custody are Jesse Lee Reynolds Jr. and Emorion Perry of Brookhaven. 

Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins confirmed the men were arrested in connection with the shooting. According to the Lincoln County Jail Docket, Reyonds, who is 22, and Perry, who is 15, were charged with aggravated assault with extreme indifference to life. Reynolds additionally had a city warrant. 

Perry was previously arrested and charged in a February 2023 shooting, he was 13 at the time.

Collins stated in a press release that officers responded to a shots fired call around 5 p.m. Christmas Eve in the 400 block of Main Street. The victim who was shot was airlifted to Jackson and remains in stable condition. 

Detectives along with patrol units worked throughout the evening to locate the suspects and take them into custody just before midnight on Amite Road. 

“I would like to thank my officers for their hard work and determination in getting those two into custody,” Collins said. “Meanwhile, the investigation will continue to ensure that all parties involved are brought to justice.”

Minnesota Shooting

Officers responded to a report of shots fired Sunday morning in Brookhaven. Collins said the shots were fired on East Minnesota Street but fortunately no one was hit by gunfire.
