Thunderstorms, flash flooding still threaten Lincoln County

BROOKHAVEN — Conditions are soggy across Lincoln County Tuesday morning. According to the National Weather Service there is still a threat of thunderstorms and flash flooding for much of Lincoln County through this afternoon.

Northwest Lincoln County appears to be the only portion of the county not at risk of thunderstorms or flash flooding. NWS Jackson forecasts isolated severe storms are possible for the area through 3 p.m. with damaging wind gusts, hail and a small tornado can not be ruled out.

Flash flooding is also possible through 6 p.m. NWS Jackson warns for much of Lincoln County one to three inches of rain are possible in less than 3 hours. Localized flash flooding of urban and low lying areas is possible.

NWS Jackson reports there have been 1 to 2 inches of rain in the past 24 hours already. It could be enough to bring about half of Lincoln County out of abnormally dry conditions in the national drought monitor map.
