Animal Rescue League: Don’t let your pets freeze
Published 3:53 pm Friday, November 29, 2024
Low temperatures of 31-33 are in the forecast for Friday-Sunday nights this weekend. So, Brookhaven Animal Rescue League says bring your pets inside, if there is any way possible. If they must be outdoors, dots and cats must have shelter.
BARL recommends facing the pet’s house away from northerly wind.
Add fresh dry hay — blankets can get wet and cold.
Make sure the animal has enough room to stand up, turn around and lie down in the shelter. Anything much bigger isn’t cozy.
Set the house up off the ground, such as on a pallet.
Make sure they always have access to fresh water, which can freeze.
Contact your veterinarian if you have other concerns.
Remember — your pets depend upon you for their well-being.
