BROOKHAVEN — There was no new damage and no fire reported at the Popeyes on Brookway Boulevard Thursday morning. Brookhaven Fire Department was dispatched to the restaurant for reports of smoke showing.

Three engines arrived on scene quickly. Brookhaven firefighters climbed the roof and walked around inside checking for signs of smoke or potential fire. Reportedly, the vents had some buildup of dust and lint which was the likely source of smoke.

Firefighters cleared the scene around noon.

Popeyes had a previous electrical fire earlier this fall. Popeyes has been closed since the fire on Oct. 17, 2024.
