BROOKHAVEN — Waste Management is one week closer to taking over garbage pickup in Lincoln County starting the week of Sept. 30. David Holloway, Waste Management Field Manager, visited the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors to answer any questions Monday.

Holloway told supervisors they now have access to a spreadsheet to see cart delivery and what goes on each day. Any addresses that are missed, Blake Pickering’s office will make a spreadsheet of and double check to make sure those addresses are being billed for garbage collection in the first place.

District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson shared a copy of the instructions which accompanied his new garbage can on his Facebook page. New cans are in the process of being delivered and due to automated pickup, have specific instructions.

Waste Management will only use the WM 96 gallon cart for trash, no other carts will be used. No material left outside the garbage bin will be collected. Carts must be placed three feet apart and three feet away from any obstacles such as trees, cars and mailboxes so the automatic arm can lift and empty the cart.

Wheels of the cart need to be placed towards your home. Please remember to bag all trash placed in the cart and have your cart at the curb by 7 a.m.

Extra Carts can be provided for an additional fee through Waste Management. Anyone interested in a second garbage cart can contact 866-604-5062.

Waste Management provided a new map of the garbage pickup routes which can be viewed below.
