Defensive Player of the Week: Isaiah Collins

Standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 245-pounds, Bogue Chitto senior outside linebacker Isaiah Collins is a guy who stands out before he ever takes the field for the Bobcats. A physical presence that’s usually standing up at the line of scrimmage on the strong side of the line, Collins had four tackles and two sacks last week for the Bobcats in a 41-18 victory over Salem.

For his standout play, Collins has been named The Daily Leader Defensive Player of the Week. Collins is an important piece for first year BC head coach BJ Smithhart and because of that, he’s a guy that usually never comes off the field. Last season he rushed for 411 yards and four touchdowns while also making 42 tackles and intercepting one pass.

Collins first sack came when he dropped into coverage, saw the Salem quarterback try to scramble, and ran up to make the stop. Containing the quarterback will be a huge focus for Collins and the BC defense on Friday when they host their county rivals from Enterprise.
