BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Board of Supervisors voted to request an application from the Mississippi Department of Health during a docket meeting Wednesday. It is the first time the application has been requested under Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency director Chris Reid.

Reid said the application is specifically for the Emergency Medical Services Operating Fund. He added King’s Daughters Medical Center EMS Manager Nick Smith asked him for help getting the application.

“The county requests money and they can buy equipment. I talked to him this week,” Reid said. “We have done it before, just not while I’ve been the EMA director. They are just requesting if we could ask for the application. There is no cost to the county.”

District 5 Supervisor Doug Falvey asked who the cost would fall upon. Reid said the State pays the County for the equipment and they buy the equipment for the ambulance services.

Equipment bought by the County would stay on the inventory. Reid said the only stipulation is equipment can not be billable items, they have to be something the ambulance service can use every day.

Supervisors approved the request for the application by a 5-0 vote.
