Severe weather threatens Sunday evening

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service in Jackson warns there is a threat of severe weather for Lincoln County and Southwest Mississippi Sunday evening. In addition to severe storms, extreme heat stress conditions have brought on an excessive heat warning.

Forecasts call for temperatures to reach 100 degrees today with heat indices reaching 106.

NWS Jackson forecasts a risk of severe storms for the area as well. Lincoln County is at a slight risk of severe storms with damaging wind gusts potentially reaching 60 to 70 mph. Hail could reach to a quarter in size.
