Severe thunderstorm warning issued

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service in Jackson warns there is a threat of severe weather for Lincoln County and Southwest Mississippi Sunday night.A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at about 10 a.m.
The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 11 p.m. according to the NWS office in Jackson. Lincoln, Lawrence, Franklin and Copiah Counties are under the warning while a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 12 a.m. The warnign states there are radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts which could impact Brookhaven and the surrounding area. Hail could accompany the storm with less than .75 inches in size.
NWS Jackson forecasts a risk of severe storms to bring possible hail and strong winds. Lincoln County is at a slight risk of severe storms with damaging wind gusts potentially reaching 60 to 70 mph. Hail could reach to a quarter in size.
Entergy reports 16,626 customers are without power across Mississippi as of 10 p.m.
