Five-Below’s plans for Brookhaven

BROOKHAVEN — Nearly a year ago, news that Five-Below planned to come to Brookhaven broke. It seems the plan fell apart somewhere in the past year.

Brookhaven Building Inspector David Fearn confirmed the company does not have plans to open a location in Brookhaven at this time. Five-Below has not returned emails sent to its media or investor relations asking for an update.

Five-Below’s last update was in June in an email response sharing little details. A spokesperson for the company said they did not see plans for a Five-Below in Brookhaven, however, “this could be because the plan hasn’t been finalized yet and the list has yet to be updated.”

Fearn said the company will not come to Brookhaven right now but it could change in the future.

It may not be long before Brookhaven residents can return back to Burger King and have it “your way.” Fearn said the company has a second drive through lane poured and it could be a few more weeks before they are open back up.

On US51 South, Fearn confirmed the building at 609 US51 S in Brookhaven will be a liquor store. According to property ownership records, the parcel is owned by HSGS Properties LLC in Tupelo. Secretary of State Business records list three people associated with the business Harijt Singh, GaGandeep Singh and Steven E. Cork.

At this time, neither a liquor license nor health inspection has been issued for the address.
