Draw hunt applications open Thursday

BROOKHAVEN — Hunters have a great opportunity to explore new ground, create new memories and experience the great outdoors thanks to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. Draw hunt applications for Wildlife Management Areas open up Thursday.
Deer, Early Teal, Rabbit and Dove draw hunt applications open up Thursday morning. Draw hunts are randomly selected and awarded to different hunters who apply. It is a great way to see different public lands in Mississippi.
Deer draw hunt applications open on August 1 and close on August 31. In total, 45,673 hunters applied for deer draw hunts, higher than the years from 2020 to 2022. Of the 45,673 hunters who applied, 4,307 hunters were drawn.
Early Teal season draws open August 1 and close August 15. Teal season is from September 14 to 29. No specific stats are shown on the MDWFP website for Early Teal season hunt applications but hunters in 2023 submitted 65,075 draw applications for waterfowl hunting.
Rabbit draw hunt applications will open August 1 and close August 31. Dove and Youth Dove hunt applications open August 1 and close August 15.
