BOGUE CHITTO — Volunteer Firefighters from Lincoln and Pike Counties protected a home from a nearby carport fire Monday afternoon. No one was injured in the fire on US51 South.

Bogue Chitto, Hog Chain and Summit Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the call. Bogue Chitto VFD Chief Blake Wallace said two cars were fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. The fire destroyed the cars and carport.

“Summit had some guys close and came to help,” Wallace said. “We appreciate everyone’s help in the heat. We were able to extinguish the fire before it reached the residence.”

Wallace said units were dispatched at 3:01p.m. and units were clear from the scene by 4:21 p.m. Aside from the carport and vehicles, Wallace said there was no further damage from the fire.

“As we were leaving, the owner’s church family was showing up to support or help anyway they could,” Wallace said. “I was glad we had several volunteer firefighters show up to help.”
