Look any direction and see that God is good

Hi, all. Just a thought to help start your weekend.
Happy New Year! The older I get, the faster time flies. Another year has come and gone, and a new one has just begun.
When you look back at 2023, what do you see? Perhaps you had to deal with tragedy, illness, loss of a job or home or loved one, or any number of other things. Perhaps you experienced the blessed birth of a child or grandchild. Maybe the year brought you a new job or home or family member. Whatever there was, whatever you experienced, God remained faithful.
God’s blessings are always abundant. I can’t help but go back to that old hymn, “Count Your Many Blessings.” That song reminds us to “count them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done!” Why, exactly, does it surprise us that God has been so good?
Perhaps the great goodness of God should surprise us because we were not so very good or faithful to the Lord! Yet, He loved us anyway. He blessed us anyway. He takes care of us anyway.
This not-so-good photo that I have for you is of a little red glass cross that hangs on a hook at our back door. I look outside to see God’s creation, the beautiful sunsets, and His critters, and I automatically see the cross. I’m reminded immediately of ALL that He has given and ALL that He has done!
With 2024 now underway, let me simply remind us to look forward to all that He has in store for us! If you have any doubts at all about the potential of the Lord’s blessings upon you and yours this coming year, look first to the cross. Everything else is in the background.
“God is so good. God is so good. God is so good. He’s so good to me.”
Just a thought. ’Til later.
