The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2618 in Brookhaven recently helped a Vietnam veteran receive the medals his father was awarded for service in World War II.
During the VFW’s annual open house Nov. 4, the post presented Norm Branum, of Wesson, with a shadow box containing the medals awarded to his father, Charles Branum, including a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. Charles never received his medals during his lifetime. A folded American flag in a shadow box was also presented to Branum.
Asked if he wanted to say anything, Branum just smiled and shook his head.
