BROOKHAVEN — Thursday is forecast to be a nice and sunny day before rain moves in this weekend. It will be a once in a blue moon day too.
Technically, the blue moon will rise Wednesday night and set Thursday morning before sunrise. A blue moon refers to the second full moon of the month rather than the color of the moon. Every 2.8 years there is at least one month with two full moons.
Wednesday and Thursday’s blue moon is forecast to be a super blue moon based on the closeness of the moon to earth. The next super blue moon will not return until January 2037. Other super full moons do occur more frequently.
