Hart said an affidavit has been signed on the suspect and is pending a warrant to be issued for their arrest. The story is developing and will be updated accordingly.
What we know right now
Police are continuing an ongoing investigation into a simple assault which allegedly took place in the Waffle House parking lot on Brookway Boulevard. The incident took place at 3:57 a.m. Sunday.
Officers arrived on scene and discovered the victim was taken to King’s Daughter Medical Center. Assistant Chief Clint Earls told The Daily Leader “several parties were involved,” and “We have identified a few of them.”
Security video from the incident reveals one person striking another to the right side of the face. The victim fell on the pavement, striking the back of his head and lost consciousness. Individuals approached and started searching the victim’s pockets instead of rendering aid.
Help from community
Hart said he spoke with the chief of police at Co-Lin Community College to see if anyone could be identified.
