BROOKHAVEN — Business news is good news for Brookhaven. One reader emailed The Daily Leader sharing their excitement about Starbucks coming to town and hopes it will entice more businesses to open up in Brookhaven.
It has been a busy year so far filled with ribbon cuttings, grand openings and development news. For example, Bob’s Sandwich Shop will open a Food Truck business on Brookway Boulevard to take advantage of the signs of growth in Brookhaven along the busy boulevard.
National corporations AITX will celebrate a ribbon cutting next month completing the railroad company’s $23.36 million investment in Brookhaven and Tractor Supply celebrated a grand opening in May.
Starbucks is the newest national brand which will open up shop at the site of the demolished Speedee Cash, once a Wendy’s, in front of Paul Barnett Nissan at 879 Brookway Boulevard. The company has not responded to requests for comment on a timeline and when they expect to be open. Reader Stephanie Bowling said she is excited for Starbucks to be open.
“I will be patronizing all of our local coffee shops and Starbucks as well. Why do we not want our town to grow? Starbucks will bring business to Brookhaven from interstate traffic and beyond,” Bowling wrote. “Please don’t listen to all the negative opinions as the whole opinion of the town. I know so many people that are happy Starbucks is coming. Bring more businesses. We need a good steakhouse.”
The local government is not responsible for who opens businesses or who moves a business from Brookhaven to somewhere else. Businesses can be started by anyone in the USA as long as they have the appropriate licenses.
