BROOKHAVEN — There is a 40 percent chance of rain in Brookhaven on Saturday mostly before 1 p.m. Severe storms are also possible Saturday according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Isolated severe storms and damaging wind gusts are forecast by the NWS to roll through Saturday between 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Hail up to a quarter size are also possible in the storms.

Loyd Star softball is playing in the MHSAA 2A Softball State Championship series in Hattiesburg this week. They are down 1-0 to East Union and had Game 2 get rained out Wednesday.

Game two in the series is now set for Friday at 4 p.m. and hopefully will be played before any rain comes through.
