SMCC Nurse Assistants Program graduates 44th class

The Southwest Mississippi Community College Nurse Assistant/Health Care Assistant Course has completed its 44th semester as a regular 16-hour Career Technical course.
Six students finished the course in this class under the direction of SMCC instructor Tangela Edwards, RN, BSN, of Brookhaven.
The program is one semester with four core courses, including Homemaker/Home Health Aide, Basic Health Care Procedures, Body Structure and Function, and Special Care Procedures.
These graduates are now qualified to work as nurse assistants, long-term care aides, or home health aides in the Mississippi health care industry. Participants in the program must be 18 years old or older, and have a high school diploma, GED or be enrolled in the MI Best program. Each student must have an ACT score of 14 or higher, or a TABE score of 10 or more, and must apply for admission to the program.
