Wreaths to honor, remember

The Veterans of Foreign Wars continually remember the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
On Saturday, Dec. 17, the members of Cpt. Daniel D. Entrican VFW Post 2618 in Brookhaven will help Riverwood Memorial Park to remember and honor veterans by laying remembrance wreaths on the graves of the nation’s fallen heroes. A program will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel, after which volunteers will lay wreaths from Wreaths Across America on the selected graves.
“Please help us honor and remember as many fallen heroes as possible by sponsoring remembrance wreaths, volunteering on Wreaths Day, or inviting your family and friends to attend with you,” a message from Post 2618 read.
The post has a goal of sponsoring 300 wreaths. As of Wednesday, Nov. 16, the campaign was 29.3 percent to the goal, with 88 wreaths sponsored.
Riverwood Memorial Park has a goal of 300 wreaths, as well. As of Wednesday, Nov. 16, the campaign had 150 sponsored, halfway to its goal.
Wreaths cost $15 each to sponsor.
