West Lincoln, Loyd Star run strong at Running Rangers meet

BRANDON — West Lincoln and Loyd Star had strong showings in the Running Rangers Cross Country meet Tuesday afternoon. Loyd Star’s Gauge Montgomery was the highest finisher from area schools. He took third place in the varsity boys race with a time of 18:18.9.
West Lincoln’s Hayen Skates finished 12th with a time of 19:58.3 and his teammate Zach Reed finished with a time of 21:54.3.
West Lincoln’s Alaina Mathis was the fastest girls runner for the Bears. She ran a 28:17.6 while her teammate Cara Jarancik finished with a 29:36.4. Kate McClatchy finished with a time of 29:39, Anna McKenzie finished with a time of 32:04.3, Kaleigh Davis in 32:19, Jaylee Nations in 32:52.6 and Anna Jones in 38:15.2.
Junior High Boys
West Lincoln’s Jacob Jones finished third with a time of 13:37, Aden Purvis finished eighth with a time of 14:46.2 and Caleb Wroten finished ninth with a time of 15:06.9. Other Bears finishing in the two-mile race was Elijah Leggett, 17:20.1, Liam Thacker, 17:49.8, Mason McCarty, 18:28.9, Brice Spring, 19:19, Ethan Price, 20:47.9, Fisher Rollins 21:19.8, Blaise Lilly, 27:45.4.
Junior High Girls
West Lincoln’s Lexi Furr was the fastest Bear as she finished fifth in a two-mile race. Her time of 17:23.4 was nearly three minutes faster than fellow teammate Palyn Smith, 20:00. Other Bears finishing the race were Gracie McCafery, 21:49.6, Kodi Arnold, 24:13.6, Paytin Chappell, 24:13.7, Paisley Smith, 26:05.3 and Jaydin Chappell, 29:05.5.
