Lawrence County homeschool student wins National Merit scholarship

Hannah N. Magee, a homeschool student from Monticello, has received a National Merit Mississippi State University Scholarship. Magee plans to study physical therapy at MSU.
Magee’s award is a College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship. Corporate-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners and National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners were announced April 27 and May 11. Additional College-Sponsored Merit Scholarship winners will be published July 11.
More than 2,600 students nationwide have received 2022 college- and university-sponsored National Merit Scholarships. Officials of each sponsor college selected winners from among the Finalists in the 2022 NMS Program who plan to attend their institution.
The awards provide $500 to $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the applicable institution. When the additional group is announced in July, the total number of recipients will be approximately 4,000. About 7,500 high school seniors will have received more than $28 million in scholarships across the full program.
