Loyd Star seventh grader Kaylin Hester recently attended a United States Sports Speciality Association (USSSA) Softball All-American tryout camp in Ruston, Louisiana.

Hester plays locally for Loyd Star and was picked, along with one other player from Louisiana, as All-American selections in the 12U Division. A catcher and utility player, Hester ran a laser timed 20-yard dash in 3.0 seconds and a similarly timed 40-yard dash in 5.5 seconds. As a catcher, she also had a pop-time of 2.2 seconds behind the plate.

The All-American games will begin for Hester and other USSSA selections during the first week of August in Viera, Florida.
