The Workbase Learning class got together with ag education students as well as ag mechanic classes to create trash can holders for Brookhaven’s Exchange Park.
“We really appreciate their help,” said the Exchange Club’s Bill Haag, who had requested the students’ work. “They look really nice and they did a great job.”
Jeb McBeth, ag instructor at Loyd Star Attendance Center, said the crew worked on creating the holders through skills learned in class, including designing the holder’s setup and mapping its dimensions through mathematics.
“The first one took the longest,” he said. “But once they got everything figured out and had a routine, they were able to get one done in about two days time on a school schedule.”
McBeth said the students have made other things in the past, including firewood racks and trailers, for groups around the county in order to expand their skills while also helping the community.
