A Franklin County resident caught a tornado on camera Wednesday afternoon around 5 p.m.
Heather Berryhill and her daughter Memorie Smith were driving on Burt Jordan Road in McCall Creek when the funnel cloud passed over and Smith took a photo. Berryhill said they did not see it touch the ground, “but it scared us to death.”
No tornado damage was reported in the county, according to Emergency Management Director Mark Thornton, though winds made some impact.
A streetlight pole behind the courthouse broke and fell, Thornton said, and a 100-year-old oak tree fell taking a power line with it. No injuries were reported.
“We’ve been really lucky,” Thornton said.
