Brookhaven schools honor Teachers, Parents of the Year

Brookhaven Public Schools recently honored several teachers as well as parents for their dedication to students, staff members and schools.
Alexander Junior High teacher of the year is Amy Freeman and parent of the year who is Amy Mason.
Brookhaven Elementary teacher of the year is Carlee Ballard and parent of the year is Lana Schultz.
Lipsey School teacher of the year is Shannon Erwin and parent of the year is Christy Lee.
Mamie Martin Elementary’s teacher of the year is Hanna Ott and its parent of the year is Juliana Adams.
BSD’s superintendent, Dr. Rod Henderson, had high praise for those awarded.
“I am thankful for each person that has been recognized as parents and teachers of the year for our district,” he said. “While individual recognitions deserve to be spotlighted, I want to emphasize to everyone that the essence of a successful school district and community lies with how we all work together. I am grateful for all faculty and staff members of the Brookhaven School District. No matter the position that is held in the district, each person plays an important role in the education of our children.
“I continue to encourage our parents and community to take a vested interest in our students, both educationally and socially. Working together as a team is the only way for our district, community, city, and state to flourish.”
