Lincoln County COVID update: 1 more death, 17 more cases

Seventeen more Lincoln County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, according to numbers published by the Mississippi State Department of Health. The county has also reported one additional coronavirus-related death.
Lincoln County has reported 117 deaths and 4,338 positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic. There have been 198 total cases in long-term care facilities in the county to date, and 40 deaths in those cases.
MSDH reported 3,163 new positive test results Wednesday and 25 deaths, moving statewide totals to 371,712 cases and 7,710 related fatalities.
As of Monday, 326,558 people are presumed recovered from infections.
Hospitals reported 1,410 in-patients across the state Monday with confirmed infections and 60 with suspected infections. There were 371 in intensive care units, 234 of whom were on ventilators.
The latest numbers represent the fifth-highest day of hospitalizations in Mississippi over the course of the pandemic. The four highest days came Jan. 4-7, when totals ranged from 1,413 on Jan. 6 up to 1,444 on Jan. 4.
According to MSDH data, 97% of cases reported July 13-Aug. 9 were in individuals who had not been vaccinated. Non-vaccinated people also made up 89% of COVID-19 hospitalizations and 85% of related deaths.
