COVID update: Lincoln County at 4,007 cases

Lincoln County recorded case number 4,000 of coronavirus in reports June 2, and saw no new cases for one week. In the week since, an additional seven cases have been reported.
The county has now had 4,007 positive test results for COVID-19 since testing began more than one year ago, and 111 coronavirus-related deaths in that time.
On Monday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported 266 new cases of the novel virus June 11-13 and one new related death, recorded in DeSoto County. The state has now recorded 319,381 cases and 7,354 deaths.
The state presumes 309,178 people have recovered from infections, a rate of 96.8%. Deaths represent 2.3% of reported cases.
MSDH has recorded 711 variant cases of the virus and 16 related deaths. Six variant types have been recorded — Alpha/United Kingdom (628 cases); Epsilon/California/B.1.429 (28 cases); and Beta/South Africa; Epsilon/California/B.1.427; Delta/India; and Gamma/Japan/Brazil — each with 15 or fewer cases.
Lincoln County has recorded 24 variant cases (all Alpha/UK) and two related deaths.
