No area lifter had a better showing than West Lincoln junior Jackson Taylor in the recent MHSAA 2A State Powerlifting Meet at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.

A Daily Leader All-Area selection as a lineman on the football team, Taylor finished in second place with a combined total of 1,370-pounds on three lifts in the 308-pound division.

Taylor benched 315-pounds, deadlifted 525-pounds and squatted 530-pounds.

His showing was the best in West Lincoln’s brief powerlifting history. The WL powerlifting team is coached by Brad Bland.
