Jean Eubanks Brown

Carolyn Imogene Eubanks Brown, 95, of Brookhaven, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, March 11, 2021. A graveside service was held for her at Rosehill Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, March 14. Officiating at the service were Reverend Sam McDonald, assisted by Rev. Dale Linton, of Faith Presbyterian Church. She was buried next to her husband and surrounded by several generations of Brown family members.
She was born on October 23, 1925, in Louisville, Ms., to Roger Courtney Eubanks and Bertha Velma Rogers Eubanks.
In the early 1940s, her family moved to Brookhaven where she graduated from Brookhaven High School. She met and married Samuel Warren “Boots” Brown and was his dedicated wife for over 60 years. She was a homemaker and an assistant to Boots in the Allstate Insurance Agency until his retirement. They enjoyed spending time together with family and friends and traveling. She enjoyed her yard immensely, while he restored classic antique cars. They then traveled to car shows across the country. She loved spending time with children and grandchildren. She was a kind person who lived out her Christian faith daily and was an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church for many, many years.
Preceding her in death were her husband “Boots”; her daughter Elizabeth “Libby” Brown Springer and son-in-law Carl Springer; her sister Hazel Eubanks Vandevender; and her parents Roger and Bertha Eubanks.
Survivors include her daughter Vicki Brown Hollingsworth and her husband Mark, of McComb; granddaughter Courtney Hollingsworth Hewitt and her husband Thomas, of Jackson; grandson David Bradford Hollingsworth, of Jackson; granddaughter Lauren Elizabeth Springer, of Nesbit; great- grandsons Thomas Hollingsworth “Worth” Hewitt and William Eubanks “Banks” Hewitt; and great- granddaughters Anne Melton Hewitt and Frances Rose Hollingsworth, all of Jackson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Kirk Vandevender, of Pascagoula; niece, Sandy Vandevender McRaney (Will) of Winter Garden, Fl.; nephew, Bruce Vandevender (Alyssa) of Las Cruces, NM; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.
Her family appreciates the loyalty, dedication and love shown to “Miss Jean” by her dear friends and caregivers including Janice Moak, Sarah Brown, Helen Woods, Vickie Martin, Tangilene Reynolds, RoAnn Tiller and Frankie Chandler, and others. They also want to thank all the special members of Hospice Compassus team who cared for her and for the family.
