“We are strongly urging motorists against travel into Lincoln and Pike Counties via Interstate-55. Ice has accumilated on all roadways and has caused a signifcant traffic jam,” said Troop M Public Affairs Officer Cpl. Craig James. “Tractor/Trailers are losing traction on inclines and becoming immoblile causing other passenger vehicles to become immobile as well. I-55 soutbound in Lincoln County, starting at the 46 mile marker, is completely blocked by tractor/trailers. Many areas on I-55 and US-84 are experiencing traffic congestion as well but improve and deteriorate as circumstances change.”
“In Lincoln County most of the right lane is blocked by immobile tractor/trailers on the north and southbound sides of I-55 from exit 30 to the Copiah County Line,” James said.
