COVID update — daily number of cases reaches 2,000

The daily number of COVID-19 cases has broken the 2,000 threshold.
On Wednesday, the Mississippi Department of Health released its newest coronavirus statistics. In Lincoln County, there were 32 new cases, bringing the total up to 2,005 total cases in the area.
There were no new deaths, keeping the total at 66. There were no new long-term care outbreaks or deaths, keeping those totals at 166 and 36, respectively.
Statewide, there were 2,457 new cases and 15 new deaths.
Those deaths occurred in the following counties: Covington, Harrison, Hinds, Itawamba, Lowndes, Marion, Neshoba, Pearl River, Pike, Rankin, Walthall and Wayne. There were 199 LTC outbreaks.
As of Wednesday, there were 54 out of 82 counties included in the governor’s mask mandate. Lincoln County was added to the mask mandate Nov. 24 under Executive Order 1532.
