Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Oscar Boyte were Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (894 Natchez Drive) in Brookhaven, MS, at 1 p.m. with burial in the Easthaven Cemetery. Bor. Herbert Barnett and Bro. Tim Bedwell officiated the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation was at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Mr. Boyte, 76, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born on April 28, 1944, in Brookhaven, MS, to Oscar Boyte and Mary Jackson Boyte. He attended Brookhaven Church of God. He and wife Carole owned and operated The Fish Fry in Brookhaven, MS, for 32 years. Mr. Wayne enjoyed his gospel quartet, Southern Praise. He considered this to be his ministry through song. Upon retirement, he enjoyed RV-ing and his “toys.” He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Oscar and Mary Boyte; sister, Polly and husband, Lee Roy Smith; and brother, Denver and wife, Cecelia Jackson.

Survivors are his wife, Carole Higginbotham Boyte; sons, Tony Boyte and wife, Judy, Benny Ashby and wife, Lorie, and Kenneth Boyte and wife, Kathy, all of Brookhaven, MS; sister, Shirley Martin and husband Charles; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
