Graveside services for Mrs. Thelma S. Haley will be on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at Heucks’ Retreat Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS, at 3 p.m. with burial to follow in the same cemetery. Bro. Ken Parvin will be officiating the services with Brookhaven Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Haley, 103, of Brookhaven, MS, passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at Haven Hall Nursing Center in Brookhaven, MS. She was born on Feb. 2, 1917, in Brookhaven, MS, to Jim and Annie Smith. She was a member of Heuck’s Retreat Baptist Church. She was employed at Lofton’s Department Store and in later years she was employed at Benoit’s in the cosmetic department. Mrs. Haley enjoyed baking and was known as “The Bread Lady” because she handed out many homemade breads to her friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dorris Haley; brothers, Ray and Rufus Smith; and a sister, Bergie Benge.

Survivors are her daughter, Sue Haley Nations and husband, John Paul, of Brookhaven, MS; son, Bill Haley and wife Carol, of Monroe, LA; two grandchildren, Paula Yancey and husband, Jim, and Joel Nations and wife, Neely; six great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Haven Hall Nursing Home staff and all her friends that visited her there.

Mrs. Haley loved her family and church family and will be missed by all who knew her.
