State lakes, state park lakes reopen

Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks has reopened state lakes and state park lakes to fishing and boating as of 8 a.m. today. The reopening came in response to Gov. Tate Reeves’ executive order.
Bank fishing will be permitted with social distancing requirements of six feet distance between individuals. Fishing piers will remain closed.
A state fishing license is required to fish any public body of water in Mississippi. Licenses can be purchased or renewed online at the MDWFP website — www.ms.gov/mdwfp. Boat registration can also be renewed online.
Lake Mary Crawford remains closed, however, for renovations.
