Brookhaven police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect accused of shooting a man Saturday at an East Monticello Street business before fleeing in a red Corvette.
Derick Quadrell Butler, 42, is considered armed and dangerous, said Police Chief Kenneth Collins.
The victim is at University of Mississippi Medical Center with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening, he said.
Police received a call of shots fired at Smith’s 84 E Carwash at 922 East Monticello St. shortly after 1:30 p.m. Saturday and found the victim, who had been shot once following an altercation, Collins said.
Butler, who has at least seven aliases, is thought to be in the Pike County area, he said.
He was last seen driving a red Corvette with a Washington tag. Butler’s last known address is in Washington, Collins said.
“This person is considered to be armed and dangerous,” Collins said. “Any person having knowledge of this individuals whereabouts please contact the Brookhaven Police Department.”
If anyone has information about the crime, they are asked to call Brookhaven Police Department at 601-833-2424. Callers can leave tips anonymously with CrimeStoppers at 601-823-0150.
